A Brief History of AMC Taekwondo
Chief instructor Andy McHugh has been training in the Korean Art of Taekwondo for over 13 years. At the time of publishing he is 3rd Dan Black Belt and is looking to move to 4th Dan during 2022. He holds a Level 2 Coaching Award in Taekwondo and holds relevant safeguarding certification and a fully enhanced DBS certificate, which is mandatory for coaching Taekwondo through British Taekwondo. Andy also holds a full First Aid Certificate.
Andy is an Ex-service man and in his younger days served the British Army as a Para Trooper, this has helped him bring a discipline to his training regime, which you would not find elsewhere.
In January 2019 Andy created AMC Taekwondo with the Main Dojang in Woodley Civic Centre. At the time there were six students under his guidance, but this started to grow quickly. At present AMC Taekwondo has over 50 students registered and training each week. AMC now has two 2nd Dan Coaches and three Assistant Coaches that help run the club with him. A true testament to how far the club has grown.
